Wrightwood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will host a Technician Level HAM Radio Class in Wrightwood on June 20-21 at the Wrightwood Community Building. Sessions will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. both days. The FCC license exam is scheduled for the afternoon of the second day.
The Technician Class license is considered the entry-level HAM radio license and offers a great starting point for those interested in becoming involved in amateur radio operations. Participants will need to purchase the Gordon West Technician Ham Radio book, available on Amazon, as the course instruction will be based on that material.
There is a $15 exam fee to take the license test, and individuals who pass the exam will also be required to pay the FCC’s $35 licensing fee. Those interested in attending the class can enroll by emailing certwrightwood@gmail.com.
