Newberry springs Meeting

On May 26, Sheriff John McMahon and Lt. Marc Bracco led a public presentation at the Newberry Springs CSD regarding the illegal marijuana farms that have been plaguing our communities. The event was well attended, with residents from Yermo, Daggett and Hinkley also present.

Our First District Director, Kim Mesen, was also on hand to meet with our constituents and learn more about their concerns.

“The Sheriff did a great job informing the community about what is going on, what they are doing to address/combat the issue, what is in the works, and what the community can do,” said Mesen. “Lt. Bracco also provided information about the Marijuana Enforcement Team (M.E.T.) team and how the community can report grow sites.”

On May 18, the Board of Supervisors proposed additional funding of several million dollars to battle illegal marijuana grows and grow the County’s Marijuana Enforcement Team.

Anyone with information regarding illegal marijuana cultivations is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division at 909.387.8400. Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-tip Hotline at 800.782.7463 or at https://wetip.com/.

I’d like to express my sincere thanks to the Sheriff’s Department for offering this valuable presentation to our residents, and to the community members for attending and sharing their concerns.
