It was a picture-perfect day to celebrate the grand opening of the brand-new equestrian facilities at Mojave Narrows Regional Park! The ribbon cutting marked the exciting completion of a $1,629,847 project, made possible through funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
Team Cook joined San Bernardino County Regional Parks Director Beahta Davis and First District Regional Parks Advisory Commissioner Thurston “Smitty” Smith, who led the morning’s festivities. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd from across the region, all eager to see the park’s newest additions come to life.
The upgraded facilities deliver a major boost for equestrian enthusiasts, featuring a prefabricated barn with horse stalls and dedicated storage for tack and feed. Visitors can also enjoy new corrals, a spacious arena complete with a public address field sound system and spectator stands—perfect for rodeos and barrel racing—along with water troughs, hitching posts, and more.
Even more is on the horizon. In the coming months, the County plans to release a request for proposals (RFP) that will pave the way for public horseback riding along the park’s scenic trails.
With these enhancements, Mojave Narrows Regional Park is expanding outdoor recreation and creating new opportunities for High Desert residents, campers, and day visitors alike.
