It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of Victorville Station Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr., a true hero of our First District community. On Monday, Deputy Cuevas lost his life in the line of duty while pursuing a suspect in a stolen vehicle near El Evado and Seneca Roads.
His six years of service with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, including the last three at Victorville Station, were marked by an unwavering commitment to protecting and serving us all.
Deputy Cuevas leaves behind his wife, two children, his parents, and two siblings— a family now bearing an unimaginable loss. He was more than a deputy; he was a dedicated husband, father, son, and brother, whose heroic efforts touched countless lives. Our community feels this loss deeply, and his absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
I ask you to join me in offering prayers, support, and heartfelt condolences to Deputy Cuevas’ family, friends, and colleagues during this devastating time.
Let us also take a moment to honor our local deputies and first responders, who face constant danger to keep us safe, sometimes at great personal cost. Deputy Cuevas’ sacrifice is a stark reminder of the risks they endure and the strength of their families who stand behind them.
Deputy Cuevas’ dedication to San Bernardino County will never be forgotten. His legacy of service lives on in the lives he protected and the community he loved. Please keep his family and all those grieving in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this immeasurable loss together.
