Seniors remain county’s highest priority as more vaccine sites open in the High Desert
As San Bernardino County continues its focus on vaccinating our senior community, a large number of locations have opened up in the High Desert.
Providence St. Mary Medical Center launched the Victor Valley’s first “mass vaccination” site this week. Appointments are still available for seniors today, Feb. 17, and Thursday, Feb. 18, at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church (18386 Corwin Rd., Apple Valley). Register for appointment.
Vaccine appointments for seniors are also available at Hook Community Center (14973 Joshua St., Victorville) and Hesperia Health Center (16453 Bear Valley Rd., Hesperia). Seniors requiring assistance making an appointment may call the Joint Information Center at (909) 387-3911 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays.
To assist seniors in getting to their appointments, Victor Valley Transit Authority recently announced that it is offering free shuttle rides for seniors to the Hook Community Center site. Vaccination appointments must be made in advance at SBCOVID19.com/vaccine, and seniors should arrive at the Victorville Transit Hub (7th & Lorene) at least 30 minutes before their appointment time.
Beginning March 15, California residents ages 16-64 with disabilities or severe underlying health conditions will be eligible for vaccinations. View our County’s current COVID vaccine inventory, vaccination maps, and other vaccination data.
Need to get tested? Free testing is available from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. weekdays at Hesperia’s Percy Bakker Center and Victor Valley College. VVC also offers testing on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The state runs a testing site at James A. Woody Community Center in Apple Valley from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. weekdays.
