Congratulations to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies Elizabeth Holguin and Daniela Ramos, who recently received the Sheriff’s Lifesaving Awards.
Victorville Station Deputy Ramos (pictured at right) was honored for her work during a call on August 20, 2021. According to the station, Ramos responded to a home for a woman who stopped breathing. “When she arrived, she found the woman unconscious and unresponsive. Family members said they believed she had overdosed on an unknown drug. Daniela positioned the woman to ensure she had a clear airway and began chest compressions. After two rounds of chest compressions, she regained a pulse, began breathing, and vomited. American Medical Response arrived shortly after and transported the woman to a local hospital where she made a full recovery.”
Hesperia Station Deputy Elizabeth Holguin (pictured at left) was honored for her work assisting a man who was not breathing on February 8, 2021. “When she arrived, the man was laying on the bedroom floor unresponsive and his face was purple. Holguin immediately started CPR. Holguin could hear him trying to gasp for air and had a family member put their finger inside his mouth to clear his airway. When the fire department arrived, they administered Narcan for a possible drug overdose. The man started to breathe and became responsive. He was transported to the hospital where he recovered. Holguin’s fast response and actions saved the man’s life.”
