Thank you to all of the concerned Newberry Springs residents who attended last week’s Orange County Superior Court Hearing to speak out against Liberty Healthcare’s proposal to place Sexually Violent Predator Lawtis Rhoden in our community. The testimony was rational, moving and powerful.
I’d also like to thank Victor Valley Transit Authority for providing the round-trip transportation from Newberry Springs to the North Justice Center in Fullerton. It was certainly much appreciated considering the 133-mile distance (each way) to the courthouse.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 24, in which Liberty Healthcare will present their rebuttal argument. We remain hopeful for a positive outcome in which Rhoden is placed in a county where he actually committed his heinous crimes, and he can be properly monitored and treated.
