Forests

All California National Forests have been closed until Sept. 17 due to wildfire threats and limited firefighting resources. This closure includes our First District locations in Angeles National ForestSan Bernardino National Forest and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Silverwood Lake SRA in Hesperia announced that the park will remain open for day use, camping, swimming, and boating. The park’s fire and charcoal ban is still in effect, and only gas fueled grills, stoves, and pits are allowed at the State Park.

Because of the closure, CalTrans8 has blocked off State Route 2 from Big Pines west of Wrightwood to I-5 in LA County, with no access to hikers, bikers, or vehicles.

With so many wildfires raging across California, it’s important to be prepared. CAL FIRE’s website allows you to sign up for text notifications about fires that may be burning near your home, along with a searchable statewide fire map. Find it at CAL Fire Incidents.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our forest communities safe!
