First District middle school students are invited to attend a free and virtual Cyber IE Kids Camp on Dec. 4.

The event will teach children how to use a Microbit, which is a pocket-sized computer that introduces users how software and hardware work together. It has an LED light display, buttons, sensors and many input/output features that, when programmed, let it interact with its users. A free Microbit will be provided for every student who participates.

The girls session will run from 9:30 a.m. until noon, and the boys sessions will run from 1-3 p.m. Every effort will be made to get the Microbit to the student before the event. However, in some cases, circumstances may require the student to use the free web-based Microbit simulator and is not necessary to participate. For more information, please contact Rosalind Lee at (909) 386-2425 or rosalind.lee@sbcss.net.
