District Director Kimberly Mesen was pleased to join Sheriff Shannon Dicus, Victor Valley Station, and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue for Tuesday’s unveiling of the “Blizzard Wizard.”
Following the historic blizzards of March 2023, it became evident that the Sheriff needed specialized equipment to effectively respond to emergencies, particularly during severe winter weather conditions. The Board of Supervisors allocated funds toward the purchase this state-of-the-art Tucker-Terra 2000 Sno-Cat.
Named by Wrightwood Elementary’s 5th-grade students, the “Blizzard Wizard” will play a crucial role in locating lost individuals, saving lives, and responding to emergencies in deep snow.
With hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting the Wrightwood area each winter, the risk of accidents and emergencies increases. The addition of the “Blizzard Wizard” to the Sheriff Department’s fleet will not only benefit the Wrightwood community but also provide a valuable resource to other areas of the county as needed.
By investing in this critical equipment, we are demonstrating our commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors to the region.
