Last week our team hosted the annual Winter Traffic Meeting at the Wrightwood Community Services District. This important roundtable brings together top public safety officials for the preparation and planning of the upcoming snow season.

This year’s event featured a weather forecast by U.S. National Weather Service meteorologist Alex Tardy about the upcoming La Niña winter weather (expected to be milder with below average precipitation), a report from General Manager Ben Smith at Mountain High Resorts, and updates from numerous departments including Wrightwood Fire Safe Council, San Bernardino and LA County Sheriff, San Bernardino and LA County Fire, CHP Victorville and Antelope Valley stations, Caltrans, San Bernardino and LA County Public Works, Angeles National Forest, and many more.

We had several important conversations about the upcoming snow season, taking a proactive approach to traffic concerns, snow play dangers, the placement of additional bathrooms/trash bins, tackling illegal parking, and mitigating the impact of potential debris flows from heavy rain.

Rest assured that the safety of the community is top of mind, and our public service officials are planning well ahead to ensure a pleasant winter snow season for both residents and visitors!
