I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the agencies that participated in the recent targeted crime suppression efforts in the First District. The collaborative work between the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and local, state, and federal partners is crucial in combating the complex issues facing our communities.
Operation Consequences
Between August 3-9, a concentrated effort was made to address gang activity and narcotics trafficking in the county. Search warrants were executed in locations such as Wrightwood, Phelan and Victorville, resulting in the seizure of 14 firearms (including six ghost guns) and the arrest of 57 individuals. Additionally, over 16 pounds of suspected methamphetamine were recovered.
Operation SMASH & Grab
In response to the escalating retail theft crisis, the Sheriff’s Department, in partnership with other agencies, conducted a retail theft operation across San Bernardino County, including Apple Valley, Hesperia, and Victorville. Between July 26-August 8, 36 arrests were made and over $25,000 in stolen property was recovered. These efforts are focused on disrupting organized retail theft crews and creating a safer shopping environment for our residents.
Operation Shelter Me
On August 9, the Homeless Outreach Proactive Enforcement Team (H.O.P.E.) conducted a special operation to reach individuals experiencing homelessness in remote areas of the High Desert. The team provided essential services, including housing referrals, medical and mental health treatment, and family reunification assistance. A total of 32 individuals were contacted, with 20 receiving referrals and 10 linked to follow-up professional services. Six individuals, including two families and a veteran, were connected to housing opportunities.
These operations demonstrate the Sheriff’s Department’s commitment to public safety and improving the quality of life for our residents. We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all the dedicated men and women who participated in these operations. Your hard work and commitment to serving our community are invaluable.
