I believe that supporting the young people in our community means making sure they have access to the resources they need, when they need them. That’s why our First District office was pleased to contribute $55,000 in discretionary funding toward the development of the Teen 311 mobile application.
The proposed Teen 311 App Pilot Project, led by Pastor Mark Graham and daughter Mykaela of Abundant Living Mission HD Inc., is designed to put valuable resources right at the fingertips of youth ages 12 to 18. Through a convenient mobile platform accessed by QR codes, teens will be able to connect with local behavioral health resources, crisis support, community services, educational materials and more.
This is an important opportunity to make it easier for young people to find help and information in a way that fits naturally into their everyday lives.
During the first year of implementation, the pilot project will service Victor Valley Union High School District at Silverado High School, Adelanto High School, Victor Valley High School, and Lakeview Leadership Academy.
Now, the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health is asking our community to help shape the project. Residents, youth, families, educators, community partners and other stakeholders can review the draft plan and provide feedback through Oct. 28. That input will help shape the project as it moves through the planning and review process.
We encourage everyone who has an interest in the well-being of our young people to take a look at the proposal and share their thoughts.
