San Bernardino County Public Works has announced that the Phelan Road project will span an approximately 8-mile section from 700 feet west of Beekley Road to 400 feet east of Baldy Mesa Road.
The initiative includes pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction, installation of new curb and gutter, modifications to traffic signals, new traffic striping, and the placement of signs and pavement markers. Additionally, new curb ramps will be installed or existing ones reconstructed at various points along the route to comply with current design standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
During construction, lane closures may occur, potentially causing delays. Traffic will be managed to maintain one 11-foot lane in each direction, and we advise motorists to plan for additional travel time, drive cautiously, and reduce speed through the work zones. The estimated start for construction is set for Spring 2025.
