The Board of Supervisors approved several key projects impacting the First District this week:
- Phelan Park Improvements: The Board extended the deadline for spending American Rescue Plan Act funds on the Phelan Community Park Improvements Project.
- Local Emergencies: The Board continued the declarations of local emergencies for the Line Fire and Bridge Fire.
- Apple Valley Library Hours: The Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Branch Library will now be open Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., effective December 30th.
- Preschool Services Lease: The Board amended a lease agreement to allow the Preschool Services Department to continue utilizing land in Apple Valley for their Head Start program, including playground, bus drop-off, and parking areas.
- Rock Springs Road Bridge: The Board approved the appraisal and acquisition of private party easements necessary for the construction of the Rock Springs Road Bridge over the Mojave River in Apple Valley.
- Sheriff’s Office Space: The Board amended a license agreement with the City of Adelanto, ensuring the continued provision of Sheriff’s Department office space at 11613 Bartlett Ave.
- Fire Station Funding: The Board allocated funds from the First District’s Priorities Program budget to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCFPD). This funding will support a potential lease agreement with Silverwood Development Phase I, LLC, securing a temporary fire station site during the construction of the new development.
San Bernardino County is opening our remote location at the High Desert Government Center in Hesperia for the Jan. 14 Board Meeting.
