I’m excited to announce that, in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Shannon Dicus, we are adding seven new deputies to the First District!
As the Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors and a retired colonel, I understand the importance of a safe and secure environment for all residents. This initiative reflects our commitment to enhancing law enforcement presence and fostering community engagement within the High Desert communities.
These additional deputies will be strategically deployed across the district, focusing on areas identified as needing increased crime prevention and proactive policing. They will be responsible for community patrols, responding to emergency calls, and taking proactive measures to prevent crime.
The seven deputies will begin their service on May 4, 2024, and their positions are funded by the 2023-2024 budget approved by the Board of Supervisors.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department remains dedicated to serving the largest geographical county in the nation. Under Sheriff Dicus’ leadership, the department works tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of over 2.1 million residents through its eight county stations, 14 contract patrol stations, and over 4,200 employees.
I am confident that these additional deputies will significantly contribute to strengthening public safety within the First District.
