Thanks to Apple Valley Unified School District for inviting us to Monday’s “State of the District” event. First District Director Kimberly Mesen was pleased to represent our office at the presentation.
Superintendent Trenae Nelson shared several exciting statistics about the district’s accomplishments and future plans. A few:
- AVUSD’s graduation rate is higher than the County’s and State’s numbers overall.
- The district has formed partnerships to connect individuals with local mental health programs and counseling services.
- AVUSD’s teachers have a higher-than-average professional development score.
- The district brought back arts and music for elementary students.
- Facility improvements include new HVAC units, health and hygiene additions in bathrooms, large shade structures in playgrounds, and plans for a future Granite Hills High School field and stadium.
- AVUSD’s 5 Family Centers provide fresh produce and food to roughly 300 families every Friday.
- The district plans to expand student services, bringing in an optometrist and dentist to serve students on campus.
Thank you, Superintendent Nelson, for your commitment to excellence serving the students and families of Town of Apple Valley!
