The California Historic Route 66 Association will present the Route 66 Byway Celebration at the historic El Garces on Route 66 in Needles on Feb. 12. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Complimentary El Garces tours will be offered, and there will be a barbecue and free live music in Santa Fe Park.

“Historic Route 66 from Needles to Barstow is a unique section of the 2,400-mile route,” said the Bureau of Land Management’s Needles Field Manager Mike Ahrens. “You’ll see beautiful desert vistas and more than 120 impressive wooden bridges, travel through small historic towns, connect to several recreational opportunities on public lands and areas of historic interest.”

Sponsors of the one-year anniversary celebration include Friends of the El Garces, Needles Regional Museum and Needles Tourist & Visitors Center. Call 760-326-4007 to learn more.
