Have you ever wanted to learn more about the Historic Apple Valley Inn? Opened in 1948, this famous hotel and restaurant was developed by Newton Bass and Bud Westlund, and soon became one of the most popular retreats from Hollywood celebrities such as Bob Hope, Marilyn Monroe, and John Wayne — among others. By 1964, our very own Roy Rogers and Dale Evans took over management of the property, continuing the tradition of Western BBQs, hayrides and square dances. The Inn closed its doors in 1986.

Special tours will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 22, courtesy of the Apple Valley Legacy Museum. Tours of the Inn and outside grounds begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will follow at 1 p.m. in the main dining room. The museum will be open between 2 and 4 p.m. that day. Tickets are $12, including lunch. For more information, call (760) 985-1918.
