The First District is getting into the Halloween spirit with an abundance of spooky events this weekend! Here a guide to a few:

Apple Valley

Join Apple Valley Recreation for a drive-in movie at Horseman’s Center Park this Friday, Oct. 28, featuring “Hocus Pocus.” Gates open at 5 p.m., movie begins at sunset. Food trucks will be on-site for dinner and snacks. Admission is $5 per car (cash). All vehicle occupants must be in an actual seat. Capacity is limited, and all spaces are first-come first-served.

The Town of Apple Valley will host its Trunk-or-Treat Festival from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Civic Center Park. Guests will enjoy trick or treating, games, costume contests and a pie eating contest. For information, call 760.247.7880.

The Apple Valley Lions Club is hosting a Community Trunk or Treat from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Historic Apple Valley Inn. For more information, please call 760.887.2000.

Baker

Baker residents are invited to join the annual community Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Chet Huffman Park! The fun begins at 4 p.m. with pumpkin carving and a watermelon eating contest. The event is sponsored by the Baker Community Services District.

Hesperia

Hesperia Recreation and Park District will host its Hot Rod Halloween from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park. This free event will feature a Halloween-themed car show, live music from the High-D Boys, carnival games and lots of vendors. Car registration is from noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday at $20 per car. The registration form is available at HesperiaParks.com, or can be done by cash only on the day of the event. All proceeds from the car show will go toward Hesperia Area Recreation District Foundation’s Rick Novack High School Scholarship.

Needles

The Needles Police and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is hosting its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. tonight in the Recreation Center parking lot.

The community of Needles will celebrate “Haunting on Route 66” during its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat at the Santa Fe Park. The event runs from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. For more information, please call Christen Rockwood at 760.220.8751 or Mia Rockwood at 760.881.9021.

Phelan

The Phelan Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Safe Trick or Treat from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Phelan Towne Square and Stater Bros. Local businesses, community organizations and residents are welcome to attend.

Victorville

City of Victorville will host its trunk or treat “Hallow-Boo Drive-Thru” from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29. For more information, call 760.245.5551.

Are you interested in comics, games, toys, film, movies, horror, and Halloween culture? If so, head to the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds on October 30th for the “Scare Faire Psychotic Carnival of Thrills.”  The event runs from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. (9 p.m. with a VIP pass). Tickets are $22 for general admission, or $45 for admission plus the American Zombie (A Rob Zombie) Spook Show.

Sunland Ford in Victorville is hosting its 2021 Trunk or Treat Extravaganza from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. The event, suitable for all ages, will include costume contests, a photo booth, vendors and lots of spooky fun. For more information, call 760.241.7751.

Wrightwood

Mountain High North Lodge in Wrightwood is hosting a Halloween Festival on Saturday, Oct. 30. Enjoy costume contests, live music, pumpkin painting, haunted hayrides and a haunted house. Take a haunted hayride through the abandoned campgrounds at $5 per ride, or explore the Haunted North Lodge at $5 per visit or $7 unlimited. Food and drink will also be served.

Yermo

Calico Ghost Town’s Ghost Haunt will continue Friday-Sunday with costume contests, trick-or-treating, carnival games, pumpkin carving and much more.  Admission is $15; $10 (ages 4 to 11). For more information, call 760.254.1125.
