Needles residents — Mosquito samples in the area have tested positive for West Nile Virus. San Bernardino County Public Health Department is recommending that residents drain any standing water at their homes and use DEET repellents when outdoors.
According to the department, “People bitten by an infected mosquito may develop West Nile fever and experience flu-like symptoms which may include fever, body aches, skin rash, and fatigue. In some people, West Nile fever can develop into a more serious form of the disease. If you have been bitten by mosquitoes and are experiencing these symptoms, contact your medical care provider as soon as possible.”
