Last Thursday, our office had the opportunity to tour the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, which is currently home to 1,200 inmates.

Thank you to Captain Ken Lutz, Deputy Chief Chris Fisher, Executive Officer Jerry Gutierrez, Lieutenant Danny Pineda, and Deputies Payne and Tebbetts for sharing more information about the facility and its many programs.

We were impressed to learn about the center’s positive approach to addressing each inmate’s mental/physical health while providing educational opportunities for a better future.

In addition to providing GED/High School Diploma courses, the center offers parenting classes and trade school programs including culinary arts, electrical engineering and an upcoming barber school. All of these programs will aid in reducing recidivism among our inmate population.
