groundbreaking

First District Director Kimberly Mesen was pleased to attend Tuesday’s groundbreaking for the Green Tree Extension Project in Victorville.

This long-awaited project will provide another East/West corridor connecting the communities of Victorville and Apple Valley.

“To say that we’re excited to get this project underway is a major understatement,” said Victorville City Manager Keith Metzler during the event. “This capital improvement has been in the making for several decades. We believe it was first envisioned in the 1970s, and added to the Victorville General Plan in 1988.”

Metzler said that Green Tree Boulevard will be extended about 1 1/2 miles from Hesperia Road to Ridgecrest/Yates Road. A 600-foot-long bridge will travel over BNSF railroad, making it the longest bridge in Victorville upon completion!

Bike lanes will also be added, connecting the Mojave Riverwalk to Hesperia Road and 7th Street.

Congratulations on this exciting new project that will bring important traffic congestion relief to Bear Valley Road, and the entire High Desert!
