The First District Communities of Baker, Newberry Springs and Needles will be getting an economic boost with several new businesses coming to the areas.
City of Needles held its groundbreaking for a new 3-story Hampton Inn & Suites on Route 66. The 45,000-square-foot hotel will boast 80 rooms, a pool & meeting space. It’s expected to generate up to 50 jobs and up to $500,000 in hotel taxes. Completion is expected in April 2022.
Travel Centers of America is bringing a TA Express to Baker on I-15, exit 221. The new TA Express will open late 2021. Five other franchised TA Express sites will launch in California over the next year, including a future location in Newberry Springs.
