First District Supervisor Col. Paul Cook will be honored with the 2020 Rural Leadership Award from the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) during a virtual reception on January 13, 2021.

The annual Rural Leadership Awards highlights public officials who have championed policies on behalf of California’s rural counties. Supervisor Cook is receiving the award for his efforts while serving California’s 8th congressional district, which included San Bernardino, Mono and Inyo counties.

“Paul Cook and his staff’s commitment to be accessible and engage in issues important to both the rural counties he represented and rural counties across the state was impressive,” said Inyo County 5th District Supervisor Matt Kingsley. “I look forward to working with Paul in his new capacity as a San Bernardino County supervisor and as a neighbor and friend.”

Supervisor Cook is receiving the 2020 award along with Assembly Member Laura Friedman (D-Glendale).

“I am honored to be recognized by the Rural County Representatives of California for my work in Congress over the last ten years,” said Supervisor Cook. “I especially appreciate the recognition of legislation I crafted to ensure that small, low population counties receive direct and flexible federal aid. Oftentimes, the plight of these counties and their residents goes unnoticed.”

Supervisor Cook will continue advocating for our rural communities on the local level while serving on San Bernardino County’s Board of Supervisors.
