SUMMARY:Free National Parks Day
DESCRIPTION:Spring has sprung in the High Desert\, and what better way to celebrate than by immersing yourself in the breathtaking beauty of our surrounding national parks? April 20-28 is U.S. National Parks Week\, a time to honor these natural wonders and rediscover the joy of exploring the great outdoors. \nLucky for us\, High Desert residents have a treasure trove of national parks right in our backyard! Here are a few ideas to inspire your National Parks Week adventure: \n\nEmbrace the Extremes at Death Valley National Park: Known for being the hottest\, driest\, and lowest point in North America\, Death Valley offers a unique and unforgettable landscape. Hike through Zabriskie Point for otherworldly vistas\, marvel at the salt flats of Badwater Basin\, or stand beneath the towering stars at night. Remember: Come prepared for the heat with plenty of water\, sunscreen\, and a hat.\nExplore Mojave National Preserve: This vast and diverse park encompasses towering mountains\, dramatic canyons\, and ancient Joshua trees. Hike through Kelso Dunes for a taste of the Sahara in California\, explore the Mojave National Preserve Visitor Center to learn about the region’s history\, or take a scenic drive on Kelso-Cima Road for panoramic views.\nHike Through Joshua Tree National Park: Joshua Tree National Park is a photographer’s paradise. The iconic Joshua trees\, twisted and reaching for the sky\, create a surreal landscape. Hike through the Hidden Valley Trail\, explore the rockscapes of Skull Rock\, or simply pull over and soak in the beauty of the desert.\n\nOn Saturday\, April 20\, entrance fees at all national parks will be waived. This is the perfect opportunity to pack a picnic lunch\, grab some sunscreen and water\, and head out for a day of free exploration.
