DESCRIPTION:High Desert Second Chance is partnering with Community Health Action Network and California Highway Patrol to provide a Child Car Seat Safety Class on Thursday\, Jan. 18. All participants will receive a new car seat for their child. \nThe child seat safety class is for qualifying children\, 12 months old or older\, for front-facing car seats. Only one child per parental household. Parent(s) must complete the workshop\, and demonstration with a certified onsite CHP technician and the child must be present to complete the demonstration. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and San Bernardino County Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation are hosting several virtual and in-person events to educate the public on this serious issue. \nA public symposium is planned from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 11\, at High Desert Church in Victorville. \nDuring Thursday’s High Desert event\, participants will view the documentary “Boys\,” followed by keynote speaker Russell Glenn Wilson\, and several workshops. The same event will be repeated on Jan. 18 at Central Park in Rancho Cucamonga. The training includes adult\, child and infant CPR; First Aid\, AED\, 2-Year AHA Certification; Same Day Certification. The class is open to ages 15 and up. \nThere are only 30 spots available for each class. Registration begins 1 hour before each class\, filled on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nA Spanish class follows at 1:30 p.m. the same day.

SUMMARY:Lady Be Aware Self Defense Training
DESCRIPTION:The Sheriff’s Department is offering Lady Be Aware training for women who want to develop the attitude\, skills and knowledge that will help prevent them from becoming victims. The is a fantastic course that covers all types of safety\, including cyber safety\, home safety\, situational awareness\, and physical safety. All participants also get hands-on self-defense training\, including how to shoot three different types of firearms. Must provide a driver license to enroll.
