DESCRIPTION:The Victor Valley College Associated Student Body is seeking volunteers to help set up a memorial honoring those lost on September 11th. Over Labor Day weekend\, the community is invited to join the effort to place 3\,000 flags on the college grounds. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday\, August 31 and Sunday\, September 1. Please call (760) 245-4271 x 2395 or (909) 208-8515 to RSVP as a volunteer.

DESCRIPTION:Wrightwood’s beloved Red Barn Opry is making a surprise comeback. Despite announcing its end last year\, the annual bluegrass and country music festival will return on at 5 p.m. Saturday\, August 31. \nFounder David Cimino previously faced challenges in sustaining the event due to rising costs but was moved to revive it following the tragic loss of community members Daniel and Jackie Meredith. This year’s Opry will be a “Celebration of Love\,” honoring their memory and providing a space for those grieving to come together. \nGet ready for a night of fantastic music and heartfelt camaraderie featuring performances by The Matsens\, Blue Eyed Coyote\, Honey Buckets\, The High D Boys\, and Winslow. \nJoin the celebration at 1336 Edna St. in Wrightwood and bring your own chairs. Admission is free\, so don’t miss this special event!
