SUMMARY:Free Shred-Fest\, Mulch Giveaway and Recycling Event
DESCRIPTION:Looking to clear out some old paperwork\, electronics\, appliances\, mattresses\, and more? Don’t miss out on our Free Shred-Fest\, Mulch Giveaway\, and Recycling Event at the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on Saturday\, Feb. 3 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event will feature drive-through document shredding\, a compost giveaway\, disposal of electronic waste and appliances\, and free mattress and box spring recycling. Activities offered at this event are FREE and available to residents of the High Desert. The Victor Valley MRF is located at 17000 Abbey Lane in Victorville\, just off Stoddard Wells Road. This event is sponsored by Burrtec Waste Industries in collaboration with the City of Victorville. \nFree Shred-Fest: High Desert residents can bring up to four banker boxes of paper documents up to 20 pounds each for secure shredding. A shredding company will be onsite so residents can watch as their documents are shredded. Shredding will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or until the shred truck reaches full capacity. \nTo facilitate quick service\, attendees are encouraged to have their paper boxes loaded in their car trunks for easy unloading by event staff. \nFree Compost Giveaway: Area residents can pick up free compost during this event. Residents need to bring their own bins to transport compost home. Burrtec employees will load the bins. The combined limit is 50 gallons per resident. \nFree Drop-off of TVs\, Computers\, Appliances\, Scrap Metal\, and E-Waste: Area residents and businesses can drop off TVs\, computers\, scrap metal\, and appliances for free. \nFree Recycling of Mattresses & Box Springs: Twin\, full\, queen\, and king mattresses and box springs\, along with futon mattresses can be dropped off for FREE by residents. No sleeper beds\, crib mattresses\, or mattresses from businesses will be permitted. \nCRV Bottle and Can Buy Back: The MRF’s buy-back center will be open during the event for residents to redeem CRV bottles and cans. The Buy Back Center is open to the public throughout the year\, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For current prices\, contact (760) 241-1284. \nAttendees must remain in their vehicles until directed by an attendant to unload their items. \nThe Victor Valley MRF serves as the processing center for recyclables from Apple Valley and Victorville’s curbside and commercial/business recycling programs. The MRF is also a buy-back and drop-off recycling center open to the public and businesses. It is regularly open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Saturdays and Sundays except for special events. \nThe City of Victorville provides year-round free and convenient disposal options for residents. DESCRIPTION:The Helendale Community Services District is hosting its annual Fall Cleanup Day this Saturday\, October. 28. Accepted items include general trash\, large items\, green waste\, tires with no rims (no commercial tires)\, electronics\, and more.  Household hazardous waste collection will be held on site. \nResidents may drop off antifreeze\, batteries\, oil and filters\, paint\, pesticides and fertilizers\, fluorescent light bulbs and tubes\, home generated needles\, medicine (except controlled substances). Please transport no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than 5 gallons. Containers must be sound and not leaking. \nCompost will be also available at the cleanup. Residents must bring their own shovels and bags/containers for compost.  Pick up compost on the south end of the Community Center parking lot near the Thrift Store. The cleanup event will take place at 26540 Vista Rd.\, Helendale.

DESCRIPTION:The City of Victorville holds two city-wide Community Cleanup Days will hold its next event on Oct. 21. The Victorville Community Cleanup Day is a fun way for families\, friends\, and coworkers to join together to take care of our desert environment\, show community support\, and keep Victorville a clean and beautiful place to live and work. The registration deadline is Oct. 6 at VictorvilleCA.gov/CCU. For sponsorship information\, call 760.955.3306 \nCommunity Cleanup Days are outdoor events and depend on volunteers to be successful. All volunteers must register\, which includes an event liability waiver. Minors can participate\, but must have parent/guardian permission and provide parent/guardian contact information. Volunteers aged 14 and younger must have a parent/guardian accompany them on the service project. High School volunteers (aged 15 through 17) may participate without a parent/guardian present\, but must be part of a school/civic group with adult supervision. Young children are not recommended at this event. \nVolunteers work in teams at multiple locations throughout the City from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to pick up litter from roadsides. Volunteers receive a free event t-shirt (while supplies last) and coupons for a discounted lunch at participating local restaurants. The City also provides volunteers with bottled water\, gloves\, trash bags\, and litter sticks. The City disposes of all the trash/litter collected.
