SUMMARY:Lady Be Aware Self Defense Training
DESCRIPTION:Ladies\, would you like to feel more confident and prepared? The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is offering “Lady Be Aware” training this fall! This one-day program empowers women with the knowledge and skills to address potential threats. \nLearn valuable strategies for staying safe at home\, online\, and out and about. The program also includes hands-on self-defense tactics and firearm introduction.  \nThe course is open to women 16+ ($75 per person). Upcoming classes are on September 21\, September 29 October 12 and October 26. All sessions run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 18901 Institution Road\, Devore. \nRegister by emailing Ladybeaware@sbcsd.org. SUMMARY:58th annual Calico Days
DESCRIPTION:San Bernardino County Regional Parks and Calico Ghost Town are excited to celebrate its 58th annual Calico Days event\, which will be held Sept. 28-29 at Calico Ghost Town from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. \nThe event\, focusing on the spirit of the Old West\, will feature an 1880s costume contest\, reenactment skits\, pie-eating contest\, Miner’s Triathlon competition\, Burro Run competition\, Bucket Brigade contest\, live musical performances\, gunfights\, egg toss competition and more. \nThe Miner’s Triathlon and Bucket Brigade will be held on Saturday\, Sept. 28 and the Burro Run will be held on Sunday\, Sept. 29.\nThe triathlon for men and women competitions include rock pulling\, muckraking and tug-of-war events. The burro race is a competition featuring contestants guiding their burro from station to station across town to be the first to reach the finish line. The Bucket Brigade is a race to see whose team can scoop and pass buckets of water to fill up the water barrel first. \nFood options during the event include the Calico Restaurant\, Lil’s Saloon and food vendors. Attendees can also visit Calico shops and attractions including Maggie Mine\, Mystery Shack\, Dorsey’s Gourmet Dog House shop and the Odessa Railroad train ride. Calico is pet-friendly and leashed pets are welcome. \nCOSTUME CONTEST\nAll ages are welcome to enter the contest.
